Attentive Courtesy

This week’s Friday Pause is dedicated to my partner, whose birthday is on Monday. This poem perfectly describes the love affair between R and his guitar (which I sometimes think he loves more than me!) He plays with exquisite care and dedication, for the pure joy of it. When I watch him play, it makes me reflect on how rare it is for adults to indulge in a creative activity, simply for the pleasure of creating something. This could be playing music, writing, art, dancing, gardening, baking – anything generative, for the sole purpose of bringing something beautiful into the world. As you head into the weekend, I invite you to explore your own relationship with creativity, and perhaps indulge in something just for the joy of it as well.
