Care

When was the last time that you noticed all the support around you – that you are not alone?

How are you feeling today? Take a moment to pause and check in with yourself. Perhaps you are really enjoying the summer vibes, taking life a bit slower, enjoying time with friends and family. If that’s you, I salute you. The season of summer is meant for enjoying the full bloom of life before we move into the harvest season.

However, I’ve spoken to several people this week who are more in a state of overwhelm. Their business is struggling. There’s too much to do. Their parents are facing serious health issues. In some cases, they are carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders, just focused on getting through this next week, this next month.

If this is you, I want to remind you that you are not alone. Even if it feels like the pressure is all on you, you have support. The people working at utility companies who keep electricity and water on. The entire supply chain working to provide food for your table. The neighbor who collects your packages and waters your plants while you are away. You are not alone.

I love this poem by Pat Schneider. Every time I read it, I feel a wave of gratitude wash over me, without even having to leave my home and go for a walk. The ordinary things in our lives are so patient, so supportive of us. If you are feeling stressed right now, perhaps you could just take a moment to feel gratitude for the sturdy support of the chair in which you are sitting. And if you know someone who is overwhelmed, perhaps you could find a simple way to provide some care, like the cup holds the tea. Maybe we can collectively create just a little more ease and space during these times.
