Defragmenting

This morning when I woke up, my head felt like it was fragmenting into a thousand tiny pieces. I’m sure you know this feeling – that sense of compression when your mind is trying to hold too much at the same time and can’t focus anymore. When my mind gets to this point, I turn to Lao-tzu and the Tao Te Ching. For me, the 81 verses of the Tao Te Ching collectively comprise a beautiful invitation to a more fluid way of life – an invitation to let go of control and allow life to unfold naturally. I always seem to read exactly the verse I need most on days like today. I hope this verse brings some peace to others feeling similarly overwhelmed.

Poem: Tao Te Ching, 9th Verse
