You have approximately four thousand weeks on this earth—how many of them will you spend doing what you actually want to do?
Let’s go a little lighter this week than last, shall we? This week’s poem is about daring to pursue our dreams, and it’s one I share often with my coaching clients. As writer Oliver Burkeman reminds us all, we only have approximately four thousand weeks on this earth, and it’s up to us how we choose to spend most of that time. So often, I meet people who have an idea of what they want to do with their lives, but they are too afraid of failing to take the leap. Over time, this can lead to a sort of paralysis, as they become more deeply entrenched in lives they might not choose for themselves.
What if instead, we had the courage to follow our heart’s calling? What might be possible then? I hope that this poem is some small spark of encouragement to you – and that you, in turn, may be a spark of encouragement to others who need a little push. Sure, you might fail, but you will also learn, and if you are strong enough to try, you will be strong enough to pick yourself back up again and try again.
