Inner Wisdom

I’m in Dusseldorf today leading a workshop on Meaning for an amazing group of young women who are just setting off on their paths. In sessions like this, I always tell people: it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks you should do with your life. The only voice you should listen to is your own inner voice – that part of you, deep inside, that whispers to you. It might not be able to tell you what it yearns for 20 years in the future, but it will always be able to tell you the next right thing to do.

I offer this poem, by the supremely wise Shel Silverstein, to the women here today and as a reminder to all of us to listen to what our gut is telling us.
