The more we rush through our day, singularly focused on the tasks and meetings ahead of us, the easier it is not to notice others around us, to lose sight of how interconnected we are. Every time a stranger lets me pass first, or hands me something I’ve dropped, I am immediately flooded both with a sense of gratitude for their kindness as well as shame that I’ve not been doing the same. These random acts of kindness bring me back to the present moment and give me hope for the future.
Today’s poem by Danusha Alameris captures this sentiment beautifully. I hope you enjoy it.
