No matter how much yoga and meditation I do, no matter how grounded I think I am, I’m still triggered nearly every day by something: disagreement over the best way forward at work, annoyance with a family member for a decision they’ve made, a difference of opinion with my partner on a topic close to my heart.
In these times, I pause and remind myself of this quote from Viktor Frankl’s book Man’s Search for Meaning, remembering that while I can’t choose what happens, I can always choose how I respond. Being centered isn’t about how long you can stay centered; it’s about how quickly you can return to center when you’ve been knocked down. I hope this quote helps create a small pause in between stimulus and response for you as well.
